Sorry to say it has been over a year since my last post... I don't usually find the time between fishing expeditions.

However this morning, as I was researching the flooding before donning my wellies and setting out, I happened upon this photograph.

These lads certainly know "How" to make the best of a bad situation.

Oh before I head off... I was surprised to read (I think it was in The Smallholder) that there are only approximately 120 adult breeding Galway ewes in 16 flocks in the UK. I should look into the possibility of acquiring a few Galways, a much under rated sheep in my humble opinion.

Really must dash now...

Had a bit of a late start this morning due to a mishap involving a Border Leicester and my favorite wellingtons last night. All turned out well in the end. Thought I may spend a few hours by the river later, rod in hand... Ahhh... Happy days.

I really must up date this more often... Trouble is I've been too busy fishing these past few weeks.

Yesterday I took a day off from fishing and spent the day leaning on a gate staring at a field beyond.

I spoke to some chap who said I had been a bad influence to children in the 1970s by smoking my pipe on television... "you're a fool" I told him, as I casually shifted the weight of my Greener G125 double barrel shotgun.

If I were such a big influence you wouldn't be able to move down at the river for 40 something, pipe smoking chaps in green wellingtons. And I never saw a child in tweed in the 1970 despite my best efforts.

Must dash, have to pack sandwiches (ham and pickle) and bait (maggots) then head for the river with my new rod.
